Who it is for
"Great people. Great brands. Weak visuals" is the problem we set out to solve. A brand can reach that point when it has grown past its first look, or when you are launching and want everything to match from day one.
This can suit, for example:
- Restaurants, cafés and bars
- Fashion, jewellery and beauty brands
- Personal brands
- Service businesses, from cleaning companies to tattoo studios

Brief
We start with the brand: what it stands for, who it is for and what already exists. Gather references you like; they speed up the conversation.

A website isn't just a page with a phone number on it. It's pages, structure, basic SEO and the tracking that tells you where people came from. These are a few local Toronto projects Anna has worked on, outside restaurant and brand photography.
- KCC — Kate's Complete Cleaning (katescc.com): a home and real-estate cleaning service in Toronto and the GTA. Kate came to Be an Art through Anna; the relationship also covers content and ad work, including the paid-ads case on our Instagram & Facebook ads page.
- Roman Royss (romanroyss.com): a multi-section local business site — a hub plus dedicated pages for different parts of the business — with its own SEO and ad tracking set up.
- Maple Steel: a handmade-knife and forged-metal brand in Toronto/GTA, site and content in progress.
- Darvin Kitchen: a kitchen-remodelling business site, still in progress.
In each case the job was the same shape: understand the business, structure the site around what it actually offers, and set up the basics so the pages can be found.
Curious how one of these was built, or want something like it for your own business? Message us on Instagram and ask.

In our work, strategy and concept come first. Our Instagram, @be_an.art, has posts on strategy, brand, colour in branding and moodboards.
Why Toronto
People in Toronto often meet a business through a search result or an Instagram profile before they see its door. We're a content agency here in the city, and we suggest making that first look clear and easy to act on. Your social media and your website should say the same thing.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to design a website or brand identity for a small business?
Pricing is shared on request because it depends on the scope: what your brand already has, how much identity work it needs, whether you need a website and what it must do, and how much photo and video content has to be made for it. Message us on Instagram with what you need.
What should I bring to a brand and website brief?
Bring references you like, what your brand already has (name, colours, photos, a current profile or site), your goal, and a list of the pages or sections you think you need. It does not have to be tidy. A rough list is enough to start the conversation.
Do I need a website if I have Instagram?
Instagram is often where people first find you, and a website is a page you control: your words, your contacts, your structure. Whether it is worth it depends on what you need it to do, so decide that first. We suggest making the two look like the same business.
When does a brand need a new identity or website?
Typically when the brand has grown past its first look, when you are launching and want everything to match from day one, or when your visuals no longer match the quality of the work. Tell us where you are and we'll suggest where to begin.
How do I get started?
Message us on Instagram at @be_an.art and tell us about your brand.
